COMMUNICATION RESPONSE
District staff strive to establish effective communication between the family and the school community. Parents/guardians wishing to contact a teacher/staff member may call the school office at 203-888-4593 and leave a message. All staff members have voicemail. However, the quickest way to get in touch with a teacher/staff member is usually through email.
To email a staff member please type: the first initial of the staff members name + their last name@seymourschools.org. For example, the school Principal (Keith O’Rourke) may be reached at korourke@seymourschools.org
All staff members will strive to respond to parent/guardian inquiries/contacts within 24 hours (only included scheduled work days - meaning the 24-hour rule is not in effect during vacations or weekends).
If you are calling, or emailing with an urgent issue where student safety, health or well-being is in question and it is after school hours (nights, weekends, vacations) please direct your contact to the Seymour Police Department or 911.
In the unlikely event you do not get a response, please follow these procedures:
If the issue is urgent and you do not receive a response within 24 hours, please call the school office and ask to speak to the administration.
If the issue is not urgent, please try an additional method of contact with the teacher/staff member. If you emailed, try calling instead. If you called, try emailing instead.
If there is still no response (24 hours), please contact administration.
If it is not an urgent issue, please allow the administrator 48 hours to respond.
If there is no response (within 48 hours), please contact Central Office.
School and office secretaries are wonderful at managing calls/contacts. Please express your urgency and situation to them so that they can support an appropriate, and timely response from the teacher or administrator.
It is our expectation in building a supportive and caring community that staff will respond to you to the best of their ability according to these procedures. At times, the response may be, "I am confirming receipt of your message and will get back to you as soon as I am able to gather some more information." It is not realistic to expect that all inquiries or calls can be fully resolved within the aforementioned 24 hours, however our school team will do our best to respond to all inquiries based on the urgency of individual situations.
