Niki Salmon

About:

Niki Salmon has a BS in Psychology, an MFA in Dance and received a Physical Therapy Assistant’s license through Mesa College. In her youth she performed both locally and abroad in modern dance groups. Before her daughter was born she worked in a hospital setting as a PTA. Additionally, she has taught dance and exercise in the Community College system for 40 years.

Currently her focus is on Healthy Aging in the Senior population. Her online activity classes specialize in offering a 1.5 hour complete body workout for strength, endurance, balance, range of motion, and mind-body connectedness. Classes come in two levels (Active and Moderate) but either level is meant to be adjusted to the individual’s current appropriate level. Her team- teacher, Char Schade, prepares and presents a wealth of information on health related topics, introducing new topics every semester as well as reviewing important essential ones.

Niki is a volunteer for the International Rescue Committee helping refugee status immigrants adjust to life in America. Currently (during the pandemic) she is teaching remote exercise classes for seniors for San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) and helping immigrant college students online.

Her hobbies include walking on the beach, line dancing, art classes at SDCCE, reading (mostly mysteries), watching KPBS (British mysteries - there’s a theme here!), visiting with friends and family, and poking around the house with her husband.
