Log in, set up authentication, forward
In this step, we will log into your account for the 1st time and set up your Multifactor authentication (MFA). We will be using your smartphone or landline phone for multifactor authentication as you set this up on your computer. If you prefer, you can follow directions for setting this up on your smartphone.
Next: Viewing your new email
Step 1: Open a program to view your email
Two options for where to view your new account: Through MyApps on the SDCCD site or through Outlook
Through MyApps: Go to MyApps on the sdccd.edu site by clicking here. Click on "Student email"
Through Outlook: Go to https://outlook.office.com
Choose one of the options to open your Outlook account page.
Step 2: Enter email and password
On your Outlook page, enter your student.sdccd.edu email.
Enter the same password used for your portal site.
Select next
Step 3: Set up your Multifactor Authentication
In this option, we will set up MFA using your smart phone. If you prefer, you can use the Microsoft Authenticator app. Also, these instructions will be for using your phone as a MFA. You can use a cell phone or a landline.
On the more information required page, select next
2. Go to the very bottom and select "I want to set up a different method:
3. On the pop-up window that appears, select phone
4. On the next screen, select confirm
5. On the screen that follows, enter your phone number on the line next to the country code box. Choose either Text me a code or Call me. (Landlines should select call me). Click next.
6. You will then receive either a text of call depending on what you had indicated previously. Enter the code into the box below. If it was a call, you may be asked to select the asterisk button.
Then, Click done
7. Click yes to stay signed in (less authorizations) or no (more authorizations). Also check if you don't want to see the screen again
8. Success: You are now set up for Outlook Email. Before closing your outlook mail account, proceed to "Forward your student email to your preferred email address"
Step 4: Forward your student email to your preferred email address
While you are in your Outlook mail account
Click on the "gear" (settings) icon in the upper right OR
If you do not see the gear icon, click on the 3 dots and select settings
Scroll down and select "View all Outlook settings"
Choose "forwarding"
Click the box that says "enable forwarding"
Enter the email address where your mail will be forwarded
Check "keep a copy of forwarded messages" if you want mail to remain on your outlook app
