Below you will find some tips and tutorials to help you sign up for one of our Emeritus classes. We understand that navigating the online system can be challenging, so we've created these resources to help make the process smoother.
To view all Emeritus classes go to the Fall Schedule (on this site)
If you struggle with registering for classes even after exploring these resources, you can go to: sdcce.edu and select "Welcome Center."
You will be assisted by a staff member
Sometimes you might see a lot of different terms thrown around: permission numbers, access codes, class numbers, CRN numbers, registration, and enrollment. But what do all these different terms mean, and how do we know when to use what number?
Permission Numbers and Access Codes
When enrolling in a class with a waitlist, or if you are enrolling after the first day of classes have begun, you will need a "permission code" to register. Sometimes you may also see this referred to as an "access code." Permission codes and access codes are the same thing. They are different from the "class number." You will need to request one from the instructor in order to register after the start of classes or for a waitlisted class. Each student will need a separate permission number/access code from the instructor to register.
Class Numbers and CRN Numbers
Class numbers are different from permission numbers. Class numbers are sometimes referred to as CRN numbers. These are specific to each class, and they are what you will enter to indicate what class you would like to register for. In the example to the right, the class number/CRN number is 75031.
Registration and Enrollment
Registration and enrollment are also terms that are used interchangeably. Both terms mean that you are signing up for a class!
Please note that some of the tutorials below refer to previous semesters, but the process remains the same. Simply choose your current semester rather than "spring 2025" when you get to that step in the registration process.
When enrolling, some classes may fill up. In these cases, you will be offered the option of joining a wait list. Look for the yellow triangle with "Wait list" next to it. You then need to click in the box to put yourself on the waitlist. Then continue in the process. You can find more detailed instructions about waitlists below.
If you were on a waitlist, you may be sent a permission number (AKA access code) when the semester begins. At this point, you can enroll using this permission number. To the left is a document outlining the steps to do this.
