History of Halloween
Halloween is the time to dress up, go outside, and get some candy having all the spooks and thrills during this time of year, as well as some Halloween history.
Halloween is an ancient Celtic celebration dating back about 2,000 years ago. The Celts would dress up in animal skin and heads and tried telling people's fortunes, as well as Druids lighting sacred bonfires, sacrificing animals, and burning crops.
The Celts believed that ghosts returned to earth while they celebrated the festival of Samhain, a pagan religious celebration. A man named Pope Gregory III thought November 1, was a time to honor saints and was eventually called All Saints Day and incorporated Samhain traditions as well. The day before All Saints Day was turned into All Hallows Eve or Halloween.
