School social workers help students with personal, family and school problems. The social workers provide a wide-range of services to support student growth and achievement. The goal of the school social worker is to help students:

·         cope in times of crisis

·         become resilient, successful learners

·         gain personal and social competencies

The school social worker works with teachers, administrators and other support staff to identify students' needs.  This may include classroom lessons, short-term counseling (individual and small group), crisis intervention and academic support for students. They help connect families to appropriate local agencies.
