RtI

Response to Intervention

The goal of RtI at James P. Sinnott Magnet School is to ensure students preform at their highest potential. After both formal and informal assessment results (NWEA Map Test, Qualitative Reading Inventory 6, etc.) are examined, students often receive instruction in a multi-sensory phonics program (Recipe for Reading, Rewards, Wilson), explicit instruction in reading comprehension strategies, math foundational skills in small groups. Students' programs are augmented with periods dedicated to provide them with the extra help they need to succeed. Progress is monitored throughout the year.
