Transition Resources

Transition Resources Information - Please Read

These transition resources have been collated to support you in making the transition to the higher level of study expected at The Sixth Form Centre. They will allow you to prepare for the first few weeks of your new courses.  Please focus on your GCSE examinations and look at these resources only once you have completed all of these.

We recommend that you:

A Level and IB study typically involves at least 16 hours of independent study per week and reading and research should take up part of this time.

We would recommend that A Level route students complete approximately 3-4 hours of transition resources per subject prior to September and IB Diploma students complete 2-3 hours per subject.

If you really don't find the tasks here at all interesting, or you find them extremely challenging, it would be a good idea to contact Miss Hales or Mr Moherndl once you have your GCSE results to discuss whether you have made the right subject choices.  Before this conversation, have a look at our prospectus and the tasks for the subjects you think you might want to move into.

Our inclusive Sixth Form

You may be worried about the move to Sixth Form - but please talk to us and we can help.   We have spaces within The Sixth Form Centre to help students who may find it a more difficult transition or a more difficult journey through Sixth Form education.

Bridging Courses

We offer in-school bridging courses in June and July for students joining The Sixth Form Centre.  Students who have accepted a place at the Sixth Form Centre will be sent a link to use to sign up to these.  Please contact us on sixthform@education.gg if you haven't received this by the end of May but would like to attend.
