Monday, May 30th--NO School-Memorial Day
Tuesday, May 31st--
Happy Tuesday,
I hope that you had an amazing weekend! Are you ready for another great week? I certainly am!
First up is National Macaroon Day. Celebrated each year on May 31st, are you a fan of Coconut Macaroons? We will find out. A macaroon is a drop cookie made with shredded coconut, egg whites, sugar, other flavorings (like vanilla extract), and sometimes ground almonds. Modern macaroons often call for sweetened condensed milk.
Macaroons look more like coconut mounds than traditional cookies. They’re distinguishable by their flaky coconut exterior, irregular dollop-like shape, and dense texture.
Next up, a recap of the Celtics 100-96 win on Sunday night. Game 1 of the NBA finals is Thursday night in San Francisco....Golden State is favored to win.
Let's talk Paperclips...It is also paperclip day...Can you draw a paperclip? Can you make a paperclip chain fast?
If there is time, some Pricing Fun. The game of the week is Rat Race. After 184 documented playings, it has been won 94 times.
Of course as always, fact practice, number lines, fractions, decimals, percentages, estimation, ratios, rates, expressions, equations, inequalities, hidden image, and tons more.
Have a great day!
Wednesday, June 1st--
Happy Wednesday!

First up today is a celebration of National Hazelnut Cake Day. We will check out a Hazelnut Cupcake recipe. Are you a fan? What percentage of 6-2 students will enjoy this particular food item? More than 50% or less than 50%?
Next up is a celebration of Oscar the Grouch. This day celebrates Oscar the Grouch's birthday, the day on which he is the grouchiest. Episode 3,866 of Sesame Street revealed that Oscar's birthday was on June 1st, and many characters celebrated Oscar's birthday on the episode. Oscar does not want a happy birthday, and bets Telly that no one will be able to do something grouchy for his birthday. Throughout the episode various characters bring Oscar gifts, and do so in a grouchy manner. Maria reads him a poem that says "Happy greeting to you, irritating Grouch. Have a rotten day from here on out!" Big Bird brings him a gift but doesn't say anything to him then or the rest of the day. He receives a box that has no gift in it, and is given a chicken and mint pie with sardine frosting. He hits a garbage can piñata that breaks garbage onto him, and is treated to a rendition of "Grouchy Birthday to You!" Oscar sees he was mistaken and his friends can give him a grouchy birthday. But, Telly then gives him hugs and kisses. Oscar thinks the best thing about birthdays is you don't have to celebrate them for a whole year after they happen. Can you draw Oscar the Grouch?
World Milk Day will follow. We will again watch a record for the bizarre consumption of milk. This will be followed by a Joey Chestnut short where he drinks a gallon of milk really fast.
Of course as always, fact practice, number lines, fractions, decimals, percentages, estimation, ratios, rates, expressions, equations, inequalities, hidden image, and tons more.
Have a great day!
