Monday, October 18th--
Happy Monday! I hope that you had an amazing weekend! As we start another week together, we will begin by celebrating National Chocolate Cupcake Day. Did you know that the first reference to a cupcake type object in print goes all the way back to 1796? With that said, the word "cupcake" first appeared in an 1828 cookbook. The recipe for today is a Chocolate Mug Cake that is made using a microwave.
To support the multiplication and division of fractions, we will spend some time exploring a different chocolate cupcake recipe. Designed to serve 16, how much of each ingredient would need to be used to make various numbers of servings?
Speaking of cupcakes, Matt Stonie once took on a 125 cupcake challenge. How long did it take him to finish?

Let's have some pricing fun as well! The game this week is one of my favorites. Cliff Hangers, this game has been active since 1976. Played for a variety of prizes, it is based around a cardboard mountain climber who climbs up a mountain based on how far the contestant misses the price of a prize, and missing it by too much could lead the mountain climber to his doom. After 332 documented playings, it has been won 230 times.
Of course, Guess My Number, factions, decimals, percentages, estimation, prime, composite, and more!
Have a great day.
