Welcome to Sixth Grade! The overview for this week will be getting to know you and establishing classroom routines and expectations. With any extra time, we will jump right in and begin to review multiplication and division. If you are unsure of yourself, don't worry, some of our station work for this week will involve these skills.
Welcome to the second week of school! Be thinking about some math goals for the year.
It is already Week 3! Can you believe it? This week, we will continue with the holiday fun, while really exploring prime vs. composite numbers, decimal multiplication and division, and even some greatest common factor and least common multiple problems. Keep up the great work and let me know if you have any questions!
Weeks 4, 5, & 6! The holiday fun continues! We will continue to explore prime and composite numbers, talk a little about factors and multiples, and even explore decimal multiplication and division! Can you tell me why 564 is not prime? Can you divide decimals? As always, let me know if you have any questions. Can you identify equivalent fractions, decimals, and percentages?
Welcome to Week 7! The holiday fun will continue this week! Our focus this week will be with fraction multiplication and division as it relates to the recipes that we explore each day. Of course, we will continue to talk about ratios and even unit rates. Guess my number will continue, which class will be the winner? We will also introduce some algebraic puzzles. Can you find the value of the objects? As always, let me know if you have any questions.
Welcome to Week 8! We will even have some decimal fun. Of course, World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
Welcome to Week 9! The holiday fun will continue this week! Our focus this week will continue to be fraction multiplication and division as it relates to the recipes that we explore each day. Of course, we will continue to talk about ratios and even unit rates. Guess my number will continue, which class will be the winner? We will also continue with some algebraic puzzles. Can you find the value of the objects? As always, let me know if you have any questions. We will even have some decimal fun. Of course, World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
Welcome to Week 10! The holiday fun will continue this week! Our focus this week will continue to be fraction multiplication and division as it relates to the recipes that we explore each day along with some order of operations along with factors and multiples. Of course, we will continue to talk about ratios and even unit rates. Guess my number will continue, which class will be the winner? We will also continue with some algebraic puzzles. Can you find the value of the objects? This is a great way to talk about equations. As always, let me know if you have any questions. We will even have some decimal fun. Of course, World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
Now that the winter session of NWEA is behind us, we will continue moving through the sixth grade curriculum. With daily fact practice of addition followed by subtraction continuing, our focus will be on ratios, ratio tables, graphing, and rates. As has been the case all year, we will continue with World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
This month, our focus will be on number lines, expressions, simple equations, and even some coordinate grid graphing. We will continue to apply properties such as the Distributive Property and work with topics such as factoring. In terms of number lines, students will be asked to compare negative integers, fractions, and decimals on a number line. Additionally, we will continue to work with the ability to name values in a variety of different ways. For example, when given a value such as 2 3/4, what is another way to name that?
As has been the case all year, we will continue with World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
This month, our focus will be on ratios, rates, expressions, equations, inequalities, and even some simple geometry!
As has been the case all year, we will continue with World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more!
In addition, daily fact practice will continue each day. Starting with multiplication, we will move to subtraction and then division this month.
This month once again, our focus will be on ratios, rates, expressions, equations, inequalities, and even some simple geometry such as the area of 2-Dimensional shapes such as rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, and more.
As has been the case all year, we will continue with World Records, The Price Is Right, Item of the Week, Estimation Challenges, and even more! Number line routines will include ordering fractions and comparing negative values on a number line. Guess My Number might even return.
In addition, daily fact practice will continue each day.
