Monday, December 20th--
Happy Monday! Welcome back! I hope that you will make it another great week, although it is a short week of school!
Today, we will begin by celebrating National Oatmeal Muffin Day, which was celebrated yesterday, December 19th....The recipe for today is Banana Oatmeal Muffins. Are you a fan? We will find out. Can you work with the recipe to multiply and divide fractions?
With a 27-17 loss on Saturday night in Indianapolis, the New England Patriots now have a record of 9-5. Mac Jones completed 26 of his 45 attempted passes. We will discuss.
Nothing says Happy Holidays like Matt Stonie. Today, we will watch as he eats 3 complete Gingerbread Houses in record time...can you talk about his rate of speed? What do you notice as you watch the video?
Fact practice, decimals, factions, percentages, order of operations, distributive property, estimation and more.
Have a great day!
Tuesday, December 21st--
Happy Tuesday! I hope that your week is going well! Remember to make it a great day!
Each year, on December 30th, we celebrate National Bacon Day. Our celebration will include a look at a recipe for Potatoes wrapped in Bacon. Are you a fan? Speaking of Bacon, Matt Stonie owns the world record for bacon eating. In 2015, he ate 182 strips in 5 minutes. Let's chat about the rate of that...How many slices would that be per minute?
We will also check out the World Record Holder With The Biggest Mouth In The World. This candy cane challenge takes place in Hollywood California. One man dazzled us all with his incredible dislocating jaw that allowed him to set a new world record of stuffing the most candy canes in his mouth at one time. Jim Mouth has set many Guinness World Records but this one is for Christmas and for the kids. How many candy canes will fit inside?
Pricing Fun this week is the Game of 3 Strikes. Featuring a baseball-like setup, this is played for an expensive car. After 83 playings, it has been won 26 times. Does that meet the mathematical probability of a win?
Fact practice, decimals, factions, percentages, order of operations, distributive property, estimation and more.
Have a great day!
