Be Human
How can we raise awareness for human trafficking in San Diego?
Grade 10
Overview: Our project focuses on teaching young adults about the signs and dangers of human trafficking. We chose to do this by building an app that has six components, each focusing on a different aspect of human trafficking dangers.
Project Initiation: The planning process established clear objectives, activities, and outcomes for the project. It outlined step-by-step instructions for students, providing a roadmap for understanding what they would do and why. By aligning objectives with student interests and learning goals, the planning process ensured relevance and engagement, enhancing comprehension and motivation.
Project Exploration and Development: Students learned a multitude of skills and concepts while producing tangible outcomes. They gained subject-specific knowledge related to the project, deepening their understanding through research, analysis, and application. Students honed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities as they navigated challenges and made decisions during the project's production phases. The project fostered collaboration and communication skills, as students worked in teams, sharing ideas, delegating tasks, and presenting their findings. Creativity and innovation were nurtured as students brainstormed solutions, designed prototypes, or crafted pieces. It provided opportunities for students to develop technical skills, such as using relevant software or tools or implementing design principles.
Project Revision and Exhibition: Students had opportunities for revision and reflection through peer feedback sessions, self-assessment, and teacher evaluations. The plan included designated times for students to review their work, identify areas for improvement, and make revisions based on feedback. It incorporated exhibitions where students showcased their final products, allowing for reflection on their learning journey and sharing their accomplishments with peers, teachers, and clients
