CHS IT 10th Grade Escape Room
How can systems be manipulated? (History- the system of transfer of manipulation; Tech- the system of algorithms; English- the system of writing styles and narrative)
Grade 10
Overview: Our escape room project is a fundraising source for our Information Technology academy in our school. It would also be a social system manipulator that would bring people together through critical thinking in a fun environment.
Project Initiation: At the beginning of our 10th-grade school year, we were introduced to our year-long project, our own escape room. Our class worked as a team from the very beginning. From planning the aspects of the room (such as our business plan, story line, advertisement, among other factors) to building (creating things with our own effort and capacity). All opinions in the classroom were heard. Each student was able to share their ideas in order to create the best environment for the public.
Project Exploration and Development: We developed team working skills and learned how to have fun throughout the process. We’ve realized that we are capable of so much more than we could have ever imagined. Since the escape room project began, each and every one of us contributed somehow. From building things with our own abilities to designing our original puzzles. Three different categories were key for the organization of the project: Marketing, Crypto, and Design. Each student had the opportunity to decide which path they could specialize on and get more familiar with it. Our class was able to learn more about productivity as well as how to fight against dead-lines and challenges on our way. We accepted failure, however accomplished so much later on down the road.
Project Revision and Exhibition: Unfortunately, our team’s goal almost got taken from us, making it close to unreachable. We were required to have a permit to build the escape room, which we did not have. Other factors also continued to get in our way and to interrupt us, such as the limitation of supplies and the short period of time that we had to build an entire room from scratch. However, we learned that effort, commitment, and a bit of hard work could get us anywhere. It was all about dedication.
