Cardinal for a Day Video Shorts
Grade 9
Overview:
Hoover's 9th-grade AoIT freshmen helped facilitate the annual "Cardinal for a Day" event by creating video shorts for various spaces on campus that will import for new freshmen to know. The videos were accessed by rising freshmen through linked QR codes posted in front of the various spaces. Our client for the project was Hoover's lead counselor, Ms. Andrea Munoz, and the intended audience was visiting Wilson and Clark Middle School Students.
Project Initiation:
The project launch was held at The Fair at 44, Dojo Cafe, a location space for community interaction. AoIT's academy director, Ellen Towers, emceed the event. Ms. Munoz introduced the "Cardinal for a Day" project, Daniel Brittain, AoIT's 9th grade Eng 1/2 and IES teacher, provided specifics for the project, and Hoover AoIT alumnus, Keith Turner, shared his experiences as a member of the academy.
Project Exploration and Development:
Students conducted a practice video shoot in their Computer Science Discoveries class. Mr. Voeltner had students research selected museums in Balboa Park, write scripts for the museums, and film short videos on site in Balboa Park. Students were then provided time to script, prepare, and shoot their videos for the "CfaD" project.
Project Revision and Exhibition:
Feedback and revision time for scripts and videos was provided through the students' IES class.
