The Real Sea Monster
How can we minimize the negative impact on our oceans caused by humans?
Overview:
With our client, I Love a Clean San Diego, students will explore and discover what part they play in the conservation of the ocean and create ways to solve this diverse issue. Students will research and analyze the human impact on the ocean and develop real world solutions to the problem.
Project Initiation:
7th grade students and parents will be invited to attend the kick off to “The Real Sea Monster”. Representatives from the I Love a Clean San Diego attended to talk about their role in their organization and what deliverables they are in need of in order to conquer the negative impact humans are having on the future of the ocean.
Project Exploration and Development:
Students choose one of three design projects: public service announcement using video, print, or theater, a physical prototype of change, or a repurposed piece of art to be displayed at PBMS or for the client to use.Community, including families, school partners, and principal clients, will use student created rubrics to assess project presentations at the IB Student Showcase Design Fair.
Project Revision and Exhibition:
They will choose one of three products: PSA for the client, create a physical prototype of change, or create a repurposed piece of art. Students will then present their projects at the Pacific Beach IB ShowCase Design Fair and the CCTE ShowCase to the clients.
