Course Description:
AP Spanish Literature and Culture is the equivalent of an intermediate college level introduction to Spanish Literature course. The course is arranged chronologically, beginning with the medieval period in Spain and ending with contemporary Latin-American and Chicano/a literature. Students examine literary movements and trends, literary devices, as well as literary style of each time period in Spain and Latin America. In addition to the literature of each time period, students also examine the history and culture (eg. art and politics) and its influence on the literature. There are a total of 36 literary works students will read during the year to prepare for the test: short story, poetry, drama, and excerpts from a novel.
