This course prepares students to take the Advanced Placement Exam in Statistics. Statistics 1,2 (AP) includes topics regularly covered in a college statistics course. Students are introduced to major statistical concepts and tools for collecting and analyzing data. Graphical and numerical techniques are used to study patterns and departures from patterns, planning a study: deciding what and how to measure, anticipating patterns: producing models using probability theory and simulation, and statistical inference: confirming models. Graphing calculator skills are emphasized. Students who take the Advanced Placement Exam may obtain college credit for this course. Students who are interested in a degree in math, science or engineering should take Precalculus 1,2 prior to AP Statistics.
