Recommended: Chemistry 1,2 (Honors) with minimum grade of C OR Chemistry 1,2 with minimum grade of B Students who wish to take AP Chemistry 1,2 as a first chemistry course MUST have a minimum grade of B in Advanced (or AP) Physics 1,2 AND Advanced (or AP) Biology 1,2 AND have completed Intermediate Algebra 1,2 or Integrated Math lll with a grade of C or better. They must also acquire their science teachers recommendation.
A college level chemistry course designed to prepare students for college and the AP Exam in Chemistry. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 8 semester hours of college chemistry credit after successful completion of the AP exam. An in-depth study of: atomic and molecular structure, structure of solids, liquids and gases, stoichiometric calculations, kinetics, thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry. College-level problem solving, theory, and laboratory investigations are essential to the course. The course is ideal for any student considering a career in medicine, science, or related disciplines. This course may be offered every other year if there is insufficient enrollment.
