Rivers of Gold

This image is of buttons on a circuit board. It was taken on my desk but because of the depth of the greens and golds it almost feels medieval. I made this image using a circuit board and my desk lamp. I couldn't get my flash to soften so I had to use the yellow light. I chose to create this image because I knew that I wanted to take an image of a circuit board and I couldn't focus well on the actual components. I also liked the patterns and colors in this image. I used selective focus and lateral lines in this image. This photo is also balanced. The green negative space is shaped and divided nicely. I began this project by trying to take photos of the components on circuit boards. I couldn't get good focus with the light I had so I moved on to this board. I then played around with the lighting a lot. I used the flash for some and used my incandescent desk lamp for the final photo. I think that the green connects this image to nature and waterways. My subject of study is the connection between nature and math and technology so this image exemplifies that connection. This image connects to my life because of my connection to nature and technology. I have spent my life exploring small waterways that look similar to that and will spend my life working with circuit boards that look like that. If I could change anything, I would get a sharper focus on the button on the left.
