04. Cloning and Overlays

Formal Balance, Angle Down, Close Distance

All of the rot was replaced by a open grain copied from the top left side of the original log.

Close Distance, Selective Focus, High Horizon Line, Leading Line

Close Distance, Formal Balance, Rule of Thirds, High Horizon Line, Angle Up, Sharp Focus

The cow was copied and laid on top of the table image. The rest of the cow image was erased leaving just the cow and the background.

On the first image I wanted to have a good clear photo to practice using the Clone Stamp. I took the photo on a blank background so the stump would be the point of focus. I chose a stump with a lot of rot so it would be a good amount of editing and then I uploaded it. I used the clone stamp to take a small section of grain from the original stump and place it all over the stump. This creates a pattern that almost looks natural.

I spent a while thinking about the overlay image because I wanted it to look good. Once I had figured out what I wanted, I took the picture of the table and then I went and convinced the cow to come over with apples. I then took the photo of the cow, making sure that the feet were in the picture. I then placed the cow image on the table image and changed the opacity. I then used the erase tool to remove all of the cow image except the cow itself.
