Leading Lines

I took this photo while my team was waxing their skis. I had some time to kill so I started taking photos and realized that it would be really cool to utilize the juxtaposition of the green numbers on the black ski base. I had the person waxing continue waxing while I took photos so I could get different distances from the iron. I took advantage of the environment that I was in so that I could get sort of action shot with selective focus in it. I didn't end up making any edits to the image because I really likes how it came out raw. I chose to create this image because I have always liked the contrast of the bright green and black of Fischer ski's. I also really liked the leading lines of the ski. In this image I use selective focus to make the background less distracting. I also use leading lines and formal balance to direct the viewer from the focused ski tip to the wax iron. I began taking these photos at a high angle and including the person waxing their ski but I quickly realized that was a boring photo. I also took a few photos from the tail which I realized wasn't as interesting as if the green numbers from the tips were in it. Nordic skiing has always meant a lot to me. I have been skiing for years and at competitions I have always seen people using the fancy skis with holes in the front(Fischer Carbonlites). This year I finally got a pair of them and wanted a chance to capture the moment. The bright green is a major part of what has attracted me to them so I wanted to include that. If I could have made the camera focus a little better on the wax iron while still being focused on the numbers I would have liked that. I view this photo as an ad for Fischer and Swix so having the Swix logo in it would be beneficial.
