05. Gridded self-portrait

ARTIST STATEMENT:

For the first picture, the assignment was to draw a value scale. Easy enough, basically, lightest color (white) to darkest (black, or as black as you can get it). For the second project, the assignment was to draw from a selfie, though with no lines and only using different values and blending them. A grid was drawn on both the picture and the drawing paper to help us. The first thing I did was make an outline of myself lightly. After doing that, I drew what I saw for values in the picture. I could have made a few highlights more visible and lighter, but other than that I think I did very well on this project.
