13. Final 2D Design Reflection

WRITTEN REFLECTION:

Out of all these pieces, I have three favorites, those being the Pure Contour hands (the whole series), the Political response and the Duck stamp piece. The first two were both done digitally, using my tablet and art program. On the last one, I used only paper, as the project rules stated I couldn't used any digital art to complete the project. Something I struggled a lot with this semester is actually not extremely art related, but more of an emotional thing. I had a distinct lack of motivation. Most art projects, if it wasn't something I was overly interested in, I just didn't want to do it. There were a couple projects I had a lot of fun with, and really liked doing, and I really discovered my love of digital art this year.

Something I learned was how to use my tablet. I've had it for two years or so now, and I barely touched it. Then, I decided to use it, and now I love using it and I want to use it so much more. It feels so natural to me now. Something I improved on was my drawing of wings, I believe. I know have a better idea on the shape of the wings and the feather placement and shape. I also now know how to draw the feathers in, and that is honestly just draw small u's. I used to use v's, but those aren't very natural, so u's work so much better.

There are a lot of recurring things the the pieces I did this year. The hands changed from the drawing of the time capsules, to the pure contour hands and the wings changed from the stars and stripes to the duck stamp. The eyes on the signature drawing and the time capsule drawing aren't all that different, as I already had a good handle on drawing eyes, as I used to doodle them all the time. In the future, I hope to use my tablet more to draw digital art, and I would like to improve on my human form, as I would really like to draw humans.
