Written Reflection: Sculpting was something that I never did before. I always loved to create art, but I never really had the chance or the idea of creating sculptures. Something really knew and really fun. I am used to painting or drawing. For sculpturing I had to think a little different. First negative and positive space is more important. A sculpture becomes really interesting when you have negative space. Another thing that is really important for 3d Design is texture. If the sculpture has an awesome texture, it makes it look more 3 dimensional. There are many more things that are important for 3d Design.

I struggled a lot with coming up with ideas. If I had a good idea, it was really fun to start working. It is important to have a good idea because you need a good idea for a good sculpture. It also just takes time to get used to the material. I was working with new material almost for every new project. If you work longer with a material you get to know the material and you know how to handle it. So the beginnings of projects where sometimes not that easy, but during the end of a project it became often easier.

I think I am most proud of the head bust. I learned a lot during this project and the other projects. It is important that you not give up on a sculpture. I had to work through it and if something isn’t working, just try it again. It’s also important to be brave. Just try something, even if you’re not 100% sure if it’s going to look like you are imagining it. For example, like putting Salvador Dalís head upside down on his neck.

All in all it was really fun to create sculptures and to learn more about different materials.
