Enrichment Opportunities

Job Corps

Job Corps is a voluntary, free, federally funded Career Technical Training Program for low income qualified 16-24 year olds. Students may choose from several different career technical training as well as take drivers education and GED classes for those who have not completed high school. Once Youth have completed the training they are expected to actively seek full-time employment, the military or some type of advance training. New students may enter the program at anytime of the year and may live on campus free of charge in our dormitories. Although the length of time needed to complete the program varies according to the students abilities and the vocation they choose, the average length of time to complete is between 9-24 months. This program is open entry/open exit, which means we have rolling admissions all year long and that every Monday at PJCA and LJCC students are enrolled upon being interviewed and accepted. While attending Job Corps, students receive a spending allowance, small clothing allowance, 3 meals a day, free basic medical and dental and job placement assistance upon leaving Job Corps. There are very strict and structured rules and expectations required of all students while enrolled in the Job Corps program. If the student completes the following they will receive transition money for:  GED- $200.00; Vocation completion - $500.00; Vocation and GED completion obtained at Job Corps - $1000.00
