There are 10 community colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD).

The Governing Board is responsible for reviewing and approving changes, initiatives, and budgets that affect MCCCD employees and the community.
The Governing Board monitors and conducts performance evaluations of the Chancellor

The Maricopa County Community College District's Governing Board has seven (7) seats.
Board members are elected and serve in staggered four-year terms.

Each year, there is also a new elected student governing board representative.
While the student does not vote in the same manner that the Governing Board does, they do collect student input from all 10 community colleges and voice concerns on behalf of the student population.
