The Employee Engagement & Resource Center (EERC) developed a combination of tools and experiences to make the onboarding process as positive as possible.
With flexibility and individualized attention, the EERC is here to enhance not only your first year experience, but your time at the college as a whole.
The Rio Wave orientation is designed to introduce new employees to the Rio Salado College culture, collaborative structure, and new initiatives.
To learn more about the schedule and topics, visit Rio Wave Orientation.
After the Rio Wave orientation, there are still opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with the extended training series for new employees.
For employees that are eligible for benefits, the District Benefits team will email you within your first few weeks regarding Benefits Enrollment titled "Action Needed". Then, you will receive an email from a Benefits Team member about your specific date for a benefits virtual orientation.
As a new benefits-eligible employee, you can enroll in the MCCCD Benefits program after 30 days from your start date. Before that time, you will be able to look at the different options; however, you cannot make official selections until 30 days after your start date.
Employees and their supervisors both participate in the performance management process. This training helps employees better prepare and understand the evaluation process. Roles and responsibilities, expectations, and communication techniques will be discussed.
Depending on your employee classification, you may have a probationary evaluation process. All full-time employees will take part in the annual performance evaluation process. Learn more on the FAQ page.
This session will connect employees to institutional strategy and planning materials, including the:
Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation process
Rio Strategic Plan and District Strategic Plan
College strategic goals and 4DX wildly important goals (WIGs)
Power BI Dashboard
With a broader overview of the Divisions & Departments of the college, employees will be able to see the direct alignment between their role at the college and the institution's resources, planning, and institutional effectiveness.
In your first few days of work, you and your supervisor will sit down together and set expectations for your role and your performance on the job.
Depending on your Employee Classification, you and your supervisor will undergo:
Mid-term performance evaluation
End-of-term performance evaluations
Annual review
Specially-funded and temporary employees do not have a probationary period; however, they do participate in the annual review process.
As a Maricopa County Community Colleges District (MCCCD) Employee and a Rio Salado College (RSC) Employee, you have a team of support at both Rio Salado College and the District Office.
