What holidays do we have off?
Eligible employees in active pay status on the workday before and the workday after a holiday shall be granted holiday compensation/leave for the following designated holidays:
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veteran’s Day
Thanksgiving Day
Friday following Thanksgiving
Winter Recess
Martin Luther King Day
President’s Day
Spring Recess – (Two Days, Thursday and Friday), and
Memorial Day

When do we get paid?
MCCCD is on a bi-weekly payroll schedule. Pay days are Fridays.

What do I have to do to set up direct deposit?
If you are interested in direct deposit, please complete the MCCCD Direct Deposit Form and submit the proper bank verification.
It will take approximately 2‐3 pay periods before your direct deposit will become active. Until then, you will receive a live paycheck.
When is my first performance evaluation?
Your probationary performance evaluation is based on type of employee you are and your history with Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD).
Employees who have a probationary evaluation take part in a mid-term evaluation and an end-of-term evaluation period. Time periods range from a two month probationary period to a year of probation.
Non-exempt employees: 2 months when transferring to a new position, but 6 months when new to MCCCD
Exempt employees: 3 months when transferring from an exempt position to another exempt position, but 6 months when new to exempt positions
If you are a specially-funded, you will not be required to participate in the probationary evaluation process. However, specially-funded employees are part of the annual evaluation process.
All full-time employees participate in the annual evaluation process; some part-time employees also participate, depending on department.
Why do I get so many technology emails?
District Office has a technology team and Rio Salado College also has a technology team.
Some applications and programs are run through District, like HCM, FMS, SIS.
Some applications and programs are run through Rio Salado College like the Matrix, RioLearn, the Employee Portal.
Each team sends out regular emails about interruptions to service; therefore, you will be receiving emails from both District and Rio. See Technology at Rio for more information on the general emails you will receive.
How do I login to the tools I need?

What is Rio Salado College doing to keep me safe during this COVID-19 pandemic?

When do I get to sign up for benefits?
You will be eligible to sign up for benefits a month after your start date. You will receive an email from the District benefits department. You can also visit the "Benefits and Enrollment Plan Information" on the District new employees page.
Your benefits will go into affect the first day of the next month. Please note, if you do not select a plan or waive the district insurance plan during the enrollment time, you will automatically be enrolled in the core plan.
Where is the copy center?
The Copy Center is located across 14th Street where College Police, Maintenance & Operations, Dental Clinic, and the mailroom are. Visit Copy Center for more information.
What division am I in?
You can determine the division your department is housed under by visiting Matrix.
Do I need a parking permit to park at any of the Rio locations?
No, Rio Salado College does not require employees or guests to use parking permits at any of the Rio locations.
However, if you plan to visit another MCCCD college or location, they will require a parking permit. You can obtain a parking permit from Rio College Police if you plan to visit other MCCCD locations.
What opportunities exist for me to be promoted?
Within Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD), there are currently not a structure for promotions based on performance; instead, you must apply for a new position to earn a promotion.
Depending on your position type, you can receive an Education Increase when you complete an accredited degree program or participate in the Creative Pathways program with the permission of your supervisor to try a new field.
