Separating Mixtures

Fifth graders have learned a lot about matter, mixtures, and solutions. Some of the things we have learned about mixtures and solutions involve dissolving, evaporation, concentration, diluting, saturating, and chemical change. During this activity, we enjoyed testing some materials such as gravel, powder, and salt by mixing and separating. Students had fun using screens, filter paper, funnels, and syringes.
