Fifth grade has been learning a lot about matter…the physical properties and chemical properties. We have discussed chemical and physical change, as well. Today we enjoyed testing a group of different powders: baking soda, baking powder, baby powder, corn starch, and a “mystery powder!” We used water, vinegar, and iodine to test each powder. We followed the scientific method to make predictions, conduct an experiment, observe and record data, and draw a conclusion to determine the mystery powder.
