ONERO Program Summary:
At Rebound Health, we run the Onero group exercise program for people with Osteoporosis
This is a 12-month program of twice-weekly group exercise classes involving high intensity strength and impact training
While exercise is important for supporting bone health, the literature demonstrates that the dosage outlined in the Onero program has the potential to increase bone mineral density. If patients are not able to exercise at this frequency or intensity (e.g. if they have another health condition that limits exercise intensity of impact exercise levels), it is unlikely that bone mineral density will increase
Questions to go through with your supervisor:
What are some risk factors for developing osteoporosis
How would you explain to a patient why exercise is beneficial for people with osteoporosis?
What are the exercise guidelines for people with osteoporosis?
What are some considerations/questions you'd want to ask someone with osteoporosis in their initial consultation?
