It is very important to ensure you are looking after yourself both while on placement here and in the workforce as an allied health practitioner.
What works for you:
It is a great idea to think about what works best for you if you need to take a moment. This may be required after hearing hard news in the clinic, a patient being upset, or a patient falling unwell while in the clinic for example
Some examples of how to take a moment during your day may include:
Going for a walk
Going to the cafe
Having a debrief with your supervisor (this can be helpful to discuss anything you need to in the clinic, so you are not thinking about things when you go home)
If a clinician is away unwell:
If your supervisor is away unwell and has informed you that you can tell patients that they are unwell, then you can
If your supervisor has not given you consent to do this, do not tell patients where the supervisor is/that they are unwell/what they are unwell with etc
