Running an Initial Consultation:

• While we do not have students run initials at Rebound Health, we are happy to answer any questions about how we run them!

• We tend to spend approximately 70-90% of the session in the consult room speaking with the patient, learning about their goals and expectations for treatment, and creating a management plan. The remaining 30%-10% is often spent in the gym performing a movement assessment, testing some exercises, prescribing some exercises to practice between the initial and first follow-up session

• We don't tent to go through the ESSA pre-screening form formally, however ask all the required questions during the initial consultation

• For some patients, particularly if the patient has an intellectual disability, speaking face to face in the treatment room can be overwhelming. In situations like this, sitting next to each other on an exercise bike, looking out a window or playing a game of handball while talking may be more appropriate 

How do we choose what assessments to do?

• This greatly depends on the patient's condition and what they would like to get out of their exercise physiology sessions
