Students will be able to save, organize, access, and share files on Google Drive. Files in Google Classroom are automatically organized and saved here.

Make sure you are logged into and saving into your school google drive (rather than personal).
When students work on assignments in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc. in a Google Classroom Assignment, the file is automatically saved with their name in the title.
Name assignments & all related materials with a number. (see image below)
