The Dual Language Academy (DLA) at the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is an enriching educational model where native English and native Spanish speaking students come together to learn to speak, read, write, and communicate in two languages: English and Spanish.
Here at Esperanza High School, our Spanish Department is a strong team that dedicates much of our time and energy to the success of our students. We take pride in guiding our students to build a strong foundation which directly contributes to their strong comprehension, writing and speaking skills.
We offer a variety of classes, such as:
Spanish 1 (Novice)
Spanish 2 (Low Intermediate- Intermediate)
Spanish 2 Honors (Intermediate)
Spanish 3 (High Intermediate)
Spanish 3 Honors (High Intermediate-Low Advanced)
Spanish Native Speakers 3 Honors (Advanced to Superior)
AP Spanish Language & Culture (Advanced to Superior)
AP Spanish Literature (Advanced to Superior)
Our teachers all have experience with the Spanish language and culture due to the fact that they are either Native Speakers and/or have had the opportunity to study and work abroad. Therefore, we not only bring language competency to the classroom but global and culture knowledge, as well.
