What is the Digital, Visual & Media Arts Pathway?

The Design, Visual and Media Arts Career Pathway consists of beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses that provide students with project-based learning experiences and prepare them to become graphic designers. Students receive training in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Collaborations with other departments, classes, clubs, schools, and outside organizations provide unique opportunities for students to advertise and promote events. Throughout the pathway, Digital Design students create professional portfolios and develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. Upon successfully completing the pathway, students are also eligible to take the Adobe Certified Professional Exam.
The Adobe Certified Professional Exams offer students the opportunity to validate their expertise in industry-leading Adobe software. Certification is available for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign, with each application requiring a separate exam.
The exams are administered and funded by North Orange County ROP (NOCROP), giving students access to a valuable credential at no cost. Students who pass an exam earn an official, industry-recognized certification that can be added to resumes and portfolios, strengthening their qualifications for future educational and career opportunities.
Each globally recognized certification remains valid for three years, and students may retake the exams to maintain or expand their professional credentials.
