American Sign Language

Esperanza High School is proud to offer 4 levels of ASL 1- 

ASL 1
Learn the foundations of American Sign Language, including basic vocabulary, fingerspelling, grammar, and conversational skills while exploring Deaf culture and community.

ASL 2
Build on your ASL skills through expanded vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and conversation while developing a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and history.

ASL 3
Develop more advanced signing skills, vocabulary, and natural expression while exploring Deaf culture. Students also have opportunities to interpret at school events and teach basic signing to elementary students.

ASL 4
Strengthen ASL fluency through advanced grammar, immersive communication, and expressive signing while exploring contemporary issues, advocacy, and the contributions of the Deaf community.
