The Government of Saskatchewan reserves seats for Saskatchewan students in high-demand health sciences programs outside the province through interprovincial agreements (IPAs) with Alberta and British Columbia. These programs include Cardiology Technology, Cardiovascular Perfusion, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Electroneurophysiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Respiratory Therapy and Speech Language Pathology.
IPA programs are a great option for students interested in a rewarding career in the health sector. These specialized training programs provide students with classroom and real-life learning opportunities. Students enrolled in IPA programs complete their clinical placements in Saskatchewan, connecting them to jobs close to home. Some programs accept students directly from high school, while others require post-secondary prerequisites. Students interested in enrolling in an IPA program can get information on program eligibility at saskatchewan.ca/hhr-train.
Health care professionals are in high demand in Saskatchewan and there are many job opportunities available across the province. These career paths offer high earning potential, with wages starting around $35 to $50 per hour. Students can find more information on health care careers in Saskatchewan at www.saskhealthauthority.ca/careers-volunteering/careers/career-profiles.
Students and graduates who return to Saskatchewan for clinical placements or work may also be eligible for clinical placement bursaries, return for service incentives and tax credits such as the Graduate Retention Program.
Saskatchewan students studying out-of-province may be eligible for Saskatchewan Student Aid while they complete their program. For more information and to learn about other supports for students and graduates, visit saskatchewan.ca/student-aid.
