The Rural Outreach and Mentorship Initiative (ROMI) supports rural Canadian secondary students by providing mentorship and resources to explore careers in medicine. Through one-on-one mentorship and engaging virtual sessions, ROMI helps bridge the gap between rural communities and medical education.
Mentorship Program
ROMI pairs rural secondary students with current Canadian medical students, creating supportive mentorship relationships. These connections give students firsthand insight into what it’s like to be a medical student and guidance on the journey to becoming one.
Information Sessions
From January until June, ROMI hosts monthly virtual sessions for registered mentees covering topics such as preparing and applying to medical school, financing your education, and experiencing a “day in the life” of a medical student.
