Perform a visual inspection of the socket with the meter removed.
If it is a hot socket, has loose wires, or is an incorrect voltage, etc. contact a supervisor.
Use the jaw tension tool on each lug to verify its integrity.
If each lug passes test, install meter normally as trained.
If a lug fails the jaw tension test, proceed with acquiring a socket safety clip.
While wearing the proper PPE, place the clip around the faulty jaw encasing it. The clip should be centered on the jaw with its closed end opposite to the tab.
If lug endures further damage during this process to the point of breaking, contact a supervisor.
Key notes:
Maximum of two clips may be used in one meter socket; otherwise, it results in a phone call to a supervisor.
These clips are designed as a temporary fix, not for long term use.
Do not use conductive tools inside a live meter can/box to squeeze jaws together.
