3 PHASE METER INSTALLATION

The same PPE and Installation procedures apply to C&I Meter Installation.

In addition to the residential installation procedures more caution is required. In order to minimize risk of arc flash the following procedures must be followed.

• Inspect the meter can and socket area for any hazardous conditions such as “Hot Socket” or service degradation.

• Proper procedure for 3 Phase Meter Installation MUST remove the load from the meter.

• Identify if there is a bypass handle, CT switches, or jumper rakes present.

• For CT meters, test the bypass switches across phases for proper voltage.

• Activate bypass switches in position 1, 2, and 3.

• The load should be removed from the meter by activating the bypass. IF YOU CAN NOT REMOVE THE LOAD, DO NOT PROCEED WITH INSTALLATION. Utility assistance will be required. Document issue and move to the next location.

• Otherwise, follow meter replacement procedure mentioned above.
