As with any job, organization is very important. When it comes to metering, having your tool bag/tool bucket, clipboard, PPE and tools organized helps to save time and helps you look more professional. At PMI you are paid by the meter you install, so 5 trips to and from your vehicle is costing you money!
The first part is to make sure before you leave your vehicle you have your clipboard; on your clipboard you should have your letter of authorization. Inside your clipboard you should have plenty of door tags and pens and permanent markers. You should have your ID badge presentable.
You need to make sure you have a face mask, booties and all required tools in case the meter is an indoor meter.
Make sure you have the correct meter that is designated by your paperwork in your tool bag/bucket.
Make sure you have plenty of meter seals in our tool bag/bucket. Nothing is worse than changing a meter and realizing you are out of meter seals.
Make sure you have your hardhat and face shield, glove bag with gloves, volt meter, all hand tools, and handheld.
Always check your handheld(s) for battery power. If your battery power is low, it might be the right time to take a break and charge up your electronics.
