Wind is a part of the weather, and weather can be very difficult to understand and predict which is why people complain about weathermen being wrong so often. It's not that they’re always wrong, it's that the weather is unpredictable! If you’ve ever watched the weather on TV, then you may have heard about the weathermen talking about something called “air pressure”. Air pressure is the amount of force, or weight, that air pushes on an object. Imagine a tire, soccer ball, or a basketball, when its deflated, it's easy to press on, versus one that was just filled with air, it can feel very tough. This is an example of air pressure. On Earth, air pressure is different at different locations, the higher up you go, to lower the air pressure because there’s less air to push down. You may have experienced this before! If you’re ever driving somewhere and your ears pop, it's because of a change in air pressure.
