Our course begins with a close examination of the placement and construction of real world wind turbines. Companies and governments, when deciding where to construct wind farms, must carefully consider the most optimal location: hills, prairies, farmlands, anywhere that the turbines can collect high speed winds without obstruction. When a location is found, the proper materials must be chosen and manufactured into wind turbine parts. Once all of the parts are created, they must be taken to the construction site, and erected safely and carefully, following all of the proper procedures. As you will see, real life wind turbine parts are massive and extremely heavy, if they aren’t handled carefully and build properly, they can seriously injure the people, animals, and land around them. While these wind turbines are different from the models that students will work with at the end of this unit, it is important to understand how real life turbines are made to better understand how the models scale in compariso
