There are a number of benefits to utilizing wind energy that support continued research of wind as an energy source. The depletion of fossil fuels and lack of alternative solutions has encouraged engineers to further develop alternative energy sources. The math section of our course explores wind as a viable energy source. Today, we will conduct research to compare fossil fuels to wind energy and then complete a cost/benefit analysis to determine whether there is a cost savings to utilizing wind energy.
Use the links below to explore the cost to building a wind turbine. As you research you should also note the cost and benefits of fossil fuels. Ultimately, you will be comparing and contrasting the two energy types and drawing conclusions about which energy source is more efficient and cost effective.
