Through this activity, students will explore the profitability of wind energy by calculating the expense of running common appliances using wind compared to powering the same appliance with a fossil fuel. This activity will be completed using Google Sheets. It is important that students use a Google account during this live session. To complete this activity, you will need to know the following:

1. Cost of fossil fuel per KwH 

2. Cost of wind energy per KwH

3. Number of KwH required to power common appliances such as:

   1. a light bulb

   2. a washing machine

   3. a computer

   4. a smart TV

   5. a refrigerator
