"I chose to do an electrical apprenticeship at college straight after school as I never really enjoyed sitting in a classroom all day. I always enjoyed the more practical aspects of school.
The smaller classes which made it easier for me to study which made the learning experience more enjoyable.
The highlights of the course for me were passing exams throughout the time at college some of which took hard work and lots of determination to complete. It was always nice to get one more step toward qualifying"

"Since a very young age I have been into many hands-on jobs in the construction, however plumbing was the pathway I chose as I enjoy everything to do with plumbing, especially how day to day jobs are varied.
The best part so far has been representing the college in the HIP Apprentice of the year competition! It was a very pleasing experience and one that I would love to do again!

Diploma in Electrical Installations - Level 2 - Full-time (North Devon)
Apprenticeships
Installation Electrician-Maintenance Electrician
Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. Installation Electricians work on the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage (less than 1000v) electrical and electronic devices and appliances. Maintenance Electricians work on the maintenance of electrical and electrnic installations including automated production systems. Duties include the supervision of the equipment, its maintenance and necessary repairs.

Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician
Apprentices on this course will plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. Plumbing and domestic heating technicians can find themselves working inside or outside a property. Customer service skills and being tidy and respectful are important qualities as they can often find themselves working in customers’ homes as well as on building sites.
