Before you hear from our lecturers and take a look through the course content, why not hear what our students say!

Group of happy university students talking while learning from books in the classroom.

"I chose to come to Petroc because it is close to where I live, my friends were also planning on going to Petroc and it offered the course that I wanted to do.

I enjoyed all my subjects but I particularly enjoyed how, in Spanish, a lot of the subject was based upon communicating and talking, but also learning about the culture. One of the highlights of my studies was the Spanish trip to Málaga in my first year, it was not only a great experience but it was also good to actually use the language skills that I had been learning.

When I leave Petroc, I plan on going to University to study Spanish and Portuguese. I am not completely sure on what I want to do for a career, but am interested in Human Rights Law, in a Spanish or Portuguese speaking country.

My advice to anyone looking to study this course would be to not worry about it being ‘too’ difficult, because all subjects are (to some extent) at college in comparison to school. You will find it hard at the beginning but it is so rewarding seeing the progress."

What do students get up to on the course?

Have a look at what students get up to, both in and outside the classroom!

In previous years, our students have had the opportunity to practice their Spanish outside the classroom.

Here a few highlights from the fantastic trip to Spain where students visited Malaga, Seville and the stunning mountaintop city of Ronda.

The trip saw students taking on the worlds most dangerous hike - El Caminito del Rey - meeting students from Gustavo Adolfo Becquer School and having the opportunity to see the Alcazaba of Malaga, Roman ruins and streets dressed for the Malaga Cinema Festival.

Silvia Gonzalez, Programme Manager, said: "All my students agreed that this type of educational visit is a great opportunity to learn more about Spanish culture and meet Spanish students in real life environments".
