ARCHITECTURE

Welcome to Architecture

The Level 3 course in Architecture, Surveying and the Built Environment is an introduction to the professions within the construction industry. Covering everything from Quantity Surveying through to Site Management and Architecture, the programme provides an understanding of how all of the construction professions interlink to enable the successful design and construction of projects.

By exploring the potential routes and professions available, we will support you in identifying your career aspirations and long-term study plans. Highly skilled and dedicated staff will support you through your creative and design processes and enable the application of these skills into the technical performance of materials and structure.

Before you hear from our lecturers and take a look through the course content, why not hear what our students say!

"I chose this course at Petroc because I love drawing and design and wanted to learn how to use more CAD (Computer Aided Design) in my designing. I’m also interested in construction and the built environment and wanted to learn more about how it's incorporated into design.

My favourite part of the course is seeing the design projects come to life using manual drafting or CAD after spending ages perfecting and modifying the concepts to get it to a working building. My highlights of the course have been going on local site visits which help put the theory work into perspective and working on difficult design projects that require lots of research and innovation to find solutions.

I’ve enjoyed studying at Petroc because the course, and help from my lecturers, has helped provide me with a career path that I’m passionate and excited about. I’m going on to do an Architecture BA (Hons) at Falmouth University and my long-term plan is to hopefully become an architect and run my own practice.

My advice for someone thinking of taking this course is that, although the work is hard and is very demanding, it’s very rewarding and provides lots of different career pathways for the future."
